Faux Test / Burden of Proof – Drahla

April 22, 2017
fromthelisteningnook

Format: silver 7″ vinyl

Side A: low bassline with an air of Scott Pilgrim about it. Questing female lyrics slathered with a Cure-like guitar sound. Beat poetry partners with a sad screaming saxophone, spokenword performance from an intimate club. A protest of pain and anger that asks Is It Real?

Side B: more Cure-like guitar and bass encouraging an I Want Money female vocals. Atheism meets indie dour with strains of Neil Remnant, sudden uplift with distorted bass, a plodding but insistent slice of indie pie.

Score: 7/10

Thought: kick on the distortion pedal and crank the angst up to 11

Info: Too Pure singles club
